The project is in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality and in the Gamagara Local Municipality in the Northern Cape Province. The project entails the improvement of National Route 14 Section 6 from Jenkins Farms (km 22.4) to Kathu (km 49.24). The major aspects of this project include the following: • Widening the road to a 13.4m surfaced width. • Strengthening of the existing pavement. • Vertical realignment. • One (1) river bridge and one (1) railway bridge which require widening. • Extension of eight (8) major culverts to the right-hand side. • Hydraulic capacity improvements at two (2) major culverts. • Lengthening of approximately seventy-three (73) lesser culverts. • Hydraulic capacity improvements at approximately twenty-one (21) lesser culverts. • Temporary two-way half-width traffic accommodation during construction. • Two short portions where traffic will be accommodated under Stop / Go control. An Independent Road Safety Audit is therefore required for this project. Such scope of work shall include but is not limited to: • Conduct a Project Information Review. • Conduct a Site Inspection. • A Stage 2 Audit will be the Contract Scope as reflected by the Preliminary Design phase of the project. • Produce a Stage 2 Road Safety Audit Report for the Preliminary Design. • A Stage 3 Audit will be the Contract Scope as reflected by the Detail Design phase of the project. • Produce a Stage 3 Road Safety Audit Report for the Detail Design. • Initiate and Conduct a Completion Meeting. Companies with road safety and traffic engineering experience are therefore invited to submit a quote to undertake an independent Road Safety Audit.
